The 10,500m² building at City South Campus in Edgbaston has enabled the University to offer a wide range of new health, life science and sports courses.  To support these developments we are seeking an exceptional candidate to join us as Associate Head of School, to work closely with the Head of School and the School Management Team. As a key member of the Faculty’s leadership team, you will be expected to support the Head of School in providing strategic direction and academic leadership for the School of Health Sciences, making a significant contribution to University and Faculty priorities. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an academic leader to support the leadership of this growing School. Candidates will demonstrate the intellectual, strategic and operational leadership qualities to engage colleagues, students and stakeholders in a strategic direction that develops new opportunities and builds on existing strengths, past successes and enhances the School and Faculty position. The post holder will support the Head of School to lead the core activities of teaching, research and external income generation and to build upon our national and international reputation and to foster a spirit of continuous improvement. Applicants should have or be working towards a PhD/ Doctorate and a developing track record of research/scholarly activity with recognition at a national level.  Candidates are sought that have the energy, passion and ambition to have a real impact in developing the School.  The post-holder will be strategic leader with a strong track record in management, a focus on business development and able to help build the Faculty’s international reputation.  The appointee must have the credibility in the field to lead a growing and highly motivated team of academics and students.
