A project management and administrative position is offered in the Faculty of Engineering at The University of Nottingham to contribute to the management of current and future planned research projects in the Gas Turbines & Transmissions Research Centre (G2TRC).

The Centre undertakes engineering experimental and modelling research with a team of academic, administrative, engineering, research and technical staff totalling around 45 people. The Centre has a growing experimental test facility which requires project management ranging from work scheduling to forward planning for future developments.

The key roles for the new appointee will involve managing interactions with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will cost, develop and project manage all activities surrounding research and consultancy activities within the Centre. Tasks will include resource allocation and planning and the scheduling of work onto our test rig facilities. The role holder will also have responsibility for developing and managing the quality manual for the group.

Candidates should ideally hold a first degree or equivalent. preferably but not necessarily in Engineering or Business. They should have experience of managing significant projects of work and they should be sufficiently familar with the basic financial principles associated with these that they can interface closely with the internal university departments. The successful candidate will have experience interacting with diverse teams of people - ideally including academics, professional engineers, management and administrative staff. An awareness of research within the university context including the role of academics and researchers would be beneficial. The majority of our research is aeroengine related and focused on high-speed rotating systems. Familarity with this field or similar is this an advantage. The successful candidate will work closely with the G2TRC management team.

Due to the nature of this post, all offers of employment will be subject to the appropriate level of security clearance and independent verification of unspent convictions obtained by means of a Basic Disclosure Certificate obtained from Disclosure Scotland, or an overseas police check. 

This is a fixed-term post available for a period of 2 years. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week), however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 21.75 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part-time and the number of preferred hours.
