The Faculty of Computing, Engineering and The Built Environment (CEBE) is located at the £300M City Centre Campus. It comprises of two schools that, together, are able to respond dynamically to the multiple modern technological challenges posed by fast-paced industries.  Their shared vision is to create a powerful centre of technological excellence and innovation, to educate to the highest quality in technologies and engineering and equip students with the technical skills to contribute to the workplace as well as to the wider industry.  Our close links to industry allow students to become involved in the latest research or make a real contribution to business.  We also offer international links that allow us to explore further the emerging technologies, which are crucial for knowledge-sharing. They also offer opportunities for overseas exchange. The School of Computing and Digital Technology is a thriving, vibrant, and inspiring learning community committed to excellence in research, high quality teaching and impactful industrial engagement. Building on continuous success in student growth and in sustained advancement of research activities, the school has embarked on a programme of extensive expansion funded by substantial long-term investments. Our growing teams are teaching, exploring and practising in some of the most exciting areas in the field of computing and the processing of digital media.  Our research groups include data science and big data analytics; cybersecurity and digital forensics; future networks (SDN - software defined networks, NFV - network function virtualisation, distributed computing and Internet of Things, wireless LAN, ad-hoc wireless and sensor networks); enterprise systems; socio-technical systems modelling and serious games technology.   We are a practice-based school, making our teaching and research relevant to the evolving market for computer skills by partnering with local and global enterprise in areas such as smart cities, medical applications, the media production industry, and IoT applications. We work in a collaborative and cross disciplinary culture, where interacting freely across the school and with colleagues in other schools is encouraged to gain a unique insight into impactful problem domains.  We invite applications to join our integrated teaching and research teams as assistant lecturers, lecturers and senior lecturers across our areas of expertise, an expert in AdvancedNetworking Technologies or Network Security would be desirable (e.g. SDN/NFV/Vehicular/Cloud/Edge etc…). Main Duties and Responsibilities Use appropriate learning, teaching, support and assessment methods. Identify areas where current provision is in need of revision or improvement and contribute to the planning, design and development of objectives and material. Select appropriate assessment instruments and criteria, assess the work and progress of students by reference to the criteria and provide constructive feedback to students. Ensure that module design and delivery comply with quality standards and regulations of the University. Engage in scholarship as required to support teaching activities and continually update knowledge. Extend, transform and apply knowledge applied from scholarship to teaching and appropriate external activities including knowledge generation, knowledge exchange and knowledge transfer activities. Conduct individual research or work on collaborative research projects. Develop research objectives and proposals for own or joint research. Engage in collaborative partnerships and contribute to the University’s work in influencing leading edge practice. Make presentations at conferences and other similar events.  Skills and Experience Successful candidates should have excellent qualifications in a computing or related technical subject, with a deep expertise in Networking Technologies.  A high honours undergraduate degree or distinction in a master’s programme (or relevant experience) is required.  Applicants should have demonstrated excellent teaching in higher education or have presented regularly to technical audiences in an industry setting.  A strong record of research and research publications or industry practice is essential.  Candidates should display a thirst for knowledge and academic learning in the context of real world challenges and a strong desire to see their theoretical work applied in solving impactful problems.  A proven record of attracting research funding and partnering across their areas of practise is advantageous. Experience of robust programming and implementation skills is desirable.  Team working skills are essential, candidates with any industrial certification in Cisco, Juniper or Huawei are strongly preferred.
