The Director of Finance is responsible for the financial stewardship of the University, its financial strategy development and the provision of financial advice related to the strategic development of the University.  The University’s underlying financial position is solid but, in line with a rapidly changing Higher Education sector, there is a challenge to allocate resources to meet the needs of all stakeholders. As a member of the Vice-Chancellors Executive Group, the successful applicant will help to drive this programme of change, working alongside the Chief Operating Officer to whom the role reports. Successful applicants must have prior experience of financial planning, budgeting and reporting in a complex organisation and demonstrate strong technical skills, both financial and IT-related. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are also required as the role holder will be expected to work with colleagues at many levels across the organisation, including senior management and University Council. In addition to the salary noted above the University also offers membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, 35 days holiday plus bank holidays and an additional 3 extra statutory days.
