An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the University of Southampton’sâ¯outstanding Southampton Sport Teamâ¯as aâ¯Lifeguard - Sport Operations Assistant.â¯We have aâ¯several locationsâ¯includingâ¯the signature Jubilee Sports Centre, Mayflower Gym, Wide Lane Sportsâ¯Groundâ¯and theâ¯Watersportsâ¯Centre, which are open toâ¯students, staff and members of the wider community.â¯With the University of Southampton recentlyâ¯committingâ¯to investing more than⯣40million in our sports facilities, we offerâ¯an extensive range of sport,â¯leisure classesâ¯andâ¯coursesâ¯thatâ¯are available to our customers from 07:00 to 22:00 every day of the week.â¯Weâ¯requireâ¯sports professionals to provide a consistently high-quality sports and leisure service to our customers all year round.â¯â¯ 

 The roleâ¯â¯ 

As aâ¯Lifeguard you will be part of a highly motivated and organised Southampton Sport Team responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient daily operation of the facilities. Based at the Jubilee Sports Centre on Highfield Campus, our Lifeguard roles areâ¯primarilyâ¯responsible forâ¯working poolside as a lifeguard, but also spend timeâ¯dealing with customer queries,â¯preparing equipment, ensuring health and safety procedures are being following,â¯and being an ambassador for active and fitness lifestylesâ¯at the University of Southampton.⯠

We encourage applicationsâ¯from those looking for a full time or part time role.â¯You will be working set hour working patterns,â¯full time is equivalent toâ¯36 hours a week averaged overâ¯a number ofâ¯weeks.â¯â¯ 

 About you⯠

We are seekingâ¯professional,â¯motivated,â¯and proactive individuals, who are brilliant team players.â¯Our roles require strong customer service skills, as you may be the first point of contactâ¯dealing with a diverse range ofâ¯people andâ¯situations.â¯Youâ¯will be responsible for health and safety of all pool users and need toâ¯always act professionally and safely.⯠

The National Pool Lifeguard Qualificationâ¯(NPLQ)â¯isâ¯essential;â¯howeverâ¯we will consider those currently working towards the NPLQâ¯qualification.⯠

This role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check which will be conducted during the offer process.â¯â¯

With aâ¯competitiveâ¯starting salary of £23,700 per annum, there is an additional 10% uplift addedâ¯shift allowance.â¯â¯
