 About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an Employer Engagement Adviser to join the Careers Department at Edge Hill University

Careers supports students and recent graduates to secure a positive graduate outcome once their studies have been completed. We provide impartial and confidential advice and guidance to individuals at all stages of their career journey. 

The Careers team is made up of three sub-teams:

 1. Careers Adviser Team

2.  Employer Engagement Team

3.  Student and Community Engagement Team

Working within Careers, the postholder will work with organisations, departments, and faculties, successfully organising and delivering high profile employer related events and activities which engage the student community, support the delivery of intra-curricular and extra-curricular employability learning, and increase engagement between the business community and the University. 

The postholder will contribute to the successful implementation of the university employability strategy – specifically in relation to increasing and enhancing curriculum-based support for students to develop and enhance their employability skills and develop work experience. 

Developing highly effective business relationships with employers and other external stakeholders, the postholder will seek out new contacts and create, monitor, and develop relationships to provide relevant opportunities for students and graduates.

Using their initiative and expertise, the postholder will provide solutions to everyday challenges, undertaking a wide range of employer engagement activities. Working closely with colleagues in Careers and across all the Faculties, they will identify opportunities for departments to embed relevant enrichment opportunities and source volunteering, part time work, placements and internships and graduate level roles.

 About You

As Employer Engagement Adviser, you will be able to:

Work effectively and inclusively with a range of people, both within and outside of the organisation, with the ability to understand the needs of industry and the demands of students and graduatesCollate, analyse and handle complex & highly sensitive data and information in accordance with GDPRUse own initiative, with minimal supervision to solve problems efficientlyWork as part of a teamWork quickly under pressure and to tight deadlines for multiple customers while maintaining meticulous and accurate attention to detail and balancing multiple priorities

You must also have:

Excellent oral and written communication and customer care skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with people at all levels both internal and external to the organisation.Experience in the use of IT, specifically MS Office with advanced Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
