This role will direct the engineering, workshop and helpdesk teams, ensuring safety, compliance, customer focus and improved delivery for planned preventive maintenance and reactive maintenance. 

Working closely with key stakeholders, you will ensure statutory/regulatory compliance works are undertaken in a timely manner, deliver solutions to achieve the University's scope 1 and 2 carbon net zero targets, and proactively manage the transition to a ‘smart campus’ through the development of CAFM and BMS systems.

You will ensure that all teams are responsive to customer requests and drive a strong customer ethos in the team as well as supporting them and their development. You will also ensure all statutory/compliance works are undertaken in a timely manner and all records are maintained.

In this role you will:have strategic responsibility for the University’s maintenance engineering, workshops helpdesk and stores.manage the operational risk register, ensuring risks are prioritised and delivered in a coordinated manner with key stakeholders.ensure new/refurbished developments are seamlessly integrated into the Universities estate.create and maintain customer relationships, manage feedback and satisfaction to ensure constant service improvement and embed a customer service ethos in the team.drive change within the department, creating an environment where outstanding service delivery exceeds customer expectations through performance management, partnership building, critical analytical thinking, risk management and time critical decision makingeffectively manage financial planning and budget management. You will develop business cases and progress reports detailing KPI's in a timely manner for University Boards and Committees.lead the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, working with the Deputy Director Projects to develop and deliver long term maintenance works.have responsibility for ensuring statutory compliance for the estates operations across the university's varied portfolio.work with key stakeholders to plan maintenance activities and replacements in line with Net Zero Targets.You should have:experience of managing maintenance across a large estate including planned and reactive works, and handling complex budgets.evidence of creating a vision and strategy for a positive team culture that values customer service and continuous improvement. 

A degree (or equivalent) qualification in construction, project management, facilities management or related discipline is desirable, along with a recognised professional qualification e.g. BIFM, CEng MRICS (or equivalent).

This is a full-time position, working 36.5 hours per week. You will, however, be part of an on-call rota.
