Mosque Studies — International Summer School on Mosque Design at Istanbul Technical University (ITU)

The International Summer School on Mosque Design is planned to bring together academics, representatives from civil society, and industry professionals from both local and global contexts to facilitate the sharing of knowledge, ideas, and experiences. The summer school includes a variety of activities such as educational seminars, panels, workshops, design studios, technical tours, juries, and exhibitions to enhance participants' theoretical and practical knowledge and deepen their professional experiences. Young designers who aspire to shape the future of mosque architecture will have the opportunity to meet experienced mosque designers in Istanbul through these activities. The summer school is open to students and professionals in the design disciplines such as Architecture, Interior Design, Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture and Industrial Design with priority given to those particularly interested in mosque design. However, students and professionals from all disciplines are welcome to participate. Applications are open to third- or fourth-year undergraduate students, graduate students, and professionals who have graduated within the last 10 years. The International Summer School on Mosque Design will take place at İTÜ Faculty of Architecture (Taşkışla) from September 18 to 27, 2024, spanning 10 uninterrupted days. Participants are expected to maintain consistent attendance and active engagement. Certificates will be awarded to those who regularly and actively participate in the summer school.
