The Laboratories of Water Works in Their Environment (EOLE) at the University of Tlemcen and the Research Institute of Civil Engineering and Mechanics (GeM UMR-CNRS 6183) from the University of Nantes have been collaborating on a Hubert Curien Tassili 10MDU811 project since 2010, for a period of 4 years. At the end of this project, the two institutions organize an international conference with participation of international experts in order to appraise the durability of concrete structures. Participants will discuss four themes, for 3 days.
In several countries, important research projects are actually carried out and are mainly devoted to developing new approaches to durability, in order to increase the lifetime of reinforced concrete structures. These new approaches are based on designing concrete mixes bymineral additions, while defining performance-oriented criteria related to durability indicators to be selected and whose objective is to develop concretes resistant to mechanical stresses as well as to internal and external aggressions.
With the advent of the highway in Algeria, all the structures attached to it as well as all reinforced concrete constructions along the coastline became of paramount importance, given the investment costs they represent on the one hand and on the other hand the maintenance and repair cost associated with damages during their operation.
Scientific exchanges on these topics will help make progress on this subject of common interest between civil engineering academics as well as among businesses and construction owners.
Scientific topics of the conference:
A. Methods for assessing the Durability of reinforced concrete structures
B. Transfer properties : Testing and Modeling
C. Non destructive testing, Maintenance of reinforced concrete structures
D. Standards and recommendations
