EMBO Workshop — Dendrites 2022: Dendritic anatomy, molecules and function

Dendrites are thin processes extending from the cell bodies of neurons. Since the majority of synaptic connections reside in dendrites, they provide the primary substrate for inter-neuronal communication. Beyond their role as conducting cables, dendrites of many neuron types contain a rich repertoire of ionic mechanisms that allow them to perform complex nonlinear computations. As a result, dendrites have been suggested to play a key role in information processing in the brain. The goal of this EMBO Workshop is to bring together scientific leaders from around the world whose latest work on molecular, biophysical, anatomical, computational and/or functional aspects of dendrites can further our understanding of how these beautiful structures contribute to different brain functions and their abnormalities.
