Metals are used in a variety of chemical processes, ranging from the production of new materials, polymers, pharmaceuticals, and new sources of energy to enzymatic reactions. Mechanistic inorganic chemists use a variety of techniques to determine how these reactions take place. This knowledge provides the foundation for cleaner (‘greener’) manufacturing processes and fuels, new materials, and a better understanding of biological processes. The 2023 Inorganic Reaction Mechanisms Gordon Conference will cover the spectrum of activities in mechanistic inorganic chemistry, including new mechanistic techniques.
