Description :

Research Fellow in Feline Welfare

Full time, fixed-term 24 months. Based at the Sutton Bonington Campus of the University of Nottingham

We invite applications for a conscientious individual to develop appropriate frameworks for the practical assessment and management of unowned domestic cat welfare. This will involve information synthesis and framework co-creation with cat care stakeholders including welfare experts and others across the UK shelter sector. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to work at the cutting edge of feline welfare.

This post is funded by Cats Protection. You will be employed by the University of Nottingham at their Sutton Bonington Campus. Working closely with Cats Protection and other relevant stakeholders, you will employ a mixed methods approach to source and synthesise current knowledge and resources, create appropriate assessment and signposting frameworks and identify specific resource gaps and the routes to their development.

You will hold a PhD degree in animal behaviour, social science, preventive medicine or veterinary medicine, or a related discipline. You should have experience of working with and coordinating a range of different stakeholders within applied settings, and experience with managing projects. A background in working within an applied animal welfare setting and some experience of teaching or the development of training courses is desirable.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Marnie Brennan (marnie.brennan@nottingham.ac.uk). Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
