Description :

Applications are invited for the role of Placements Manager based in the School of Pharmacy. This is an exciting opportunity working at the forefront of pharmacy education and supporting the development and training of the future pharmacy workforce.

We're seeking a suitably experienced professional to work with our talented Placements Team. The role-holder will be responsible for managing the Pharmacy Placements Team and will oversee placement and careers activities for the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. For our accredited MPharm degrees, this will involve the provision of compulsory clinical placements and supporting students to apply for Foundation (formerly known as Pre-Registration) training, whilst our MSci and MSc students will undertake Year in Industry placements.

You will work collaboratively with the Careers and Employability Service to ensure students have access to bespoke support, e.g., work experience, careers fairs and opportunities to engage with employers and alumni, with colleagues across the School and University (including senior management and academic leads for placements and careers) and with an established network of placement providers. A crucial aspect of the role will involve forecasting and sourcing placements and maintaining high standards by proactively engaging with students and stakeholders and developing existing quality assurance mechanisms.

Along with a passion for exploring new ideas and supporting the team to develop new ways of working, applicants should have proven experience of building relationships with external stakeholders and be self-motivated to manage and deliver projects with minimal supervision.

Candidates must have excellent communication, IT, planning and negotiating skills, as well as an analytical approach to problem solving. An understanding of student placements, issues facing Higher Education and the graduate employment market is desirable. In return, you’ll receive a generous holiday entitlement, a benefits package including contributory pension scheme and the opportunity of staff benefit options enabling you to save money on childcare, shopping, travel and other services.

The post is offered on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours). However, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part-time and the number of preferred hours. Salary pro-rata if part time hours are worked.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Kevin Cooper (email: kevin.cooper@nottingham.ac.uk). Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
