INTERNAL VACANCY

This vacancy is open to employees of the University of Nottingham only.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning Development Consultant (Access and Participation) to join our Libraries’ Learning Development Team, part of the Teaching and Learning section of the University of Nottingham Libraries department. The section provides University-wide academic, digital, and information literacy teaching and learning resources, delivered to students synchronously and asynchronously. Your particular focus will be on developing provision in support of the University’s Access and Participation Plan, notably to provide academic skills support to decrease the awarding gaps between FSM (Free School Meals) and non-FSM students. We know that having colleagues from a wide range of groups and backgrounds is key to a good supportive workplace and even better services. We are particularly keen to receive applications from groups who are currently underrepresented in Libraries in the UK, such as people from Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic backgrounds.

You will work in collaboration with other members of the team, the APP strategic delivery lead, and colleagues from across the University, and in alignment with the University’s Education and Student Experience Strategic Delivery Plan. You will be instrumental in developing and embedding new learning development work across the institution that specifically supports the selected targets. This will involve developing diverse and inclusive resources that are engaging and relevant for all students at the various stages of their academic journey. In doing so, you will bring a proactive, positive, and forward-thinking approach to all that you do. You will lead projects from initiation through to evaluation, feeding into the university’s APP evaluative report cycle.

You will be an inspirational teacher with experience in delivering training within a broad range of academic disciplines and to students with a range of challenges. This experience should cover working with groups and in one-to-one situations, face-to-face and online. You will have a good awareness of learning characteristics and accessibility issues, using this knowledge to adapt your work appropriately and optimise your support for students. You will have strong inter-personal communication skills, which will facilitate networking and enable you to work both independently and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders from across the University. You will pro-actively evaluate projects, and feed-forward into the growth of both the APP programme and the Libraries’ Learning Development team.

This is a full-time (36.25 hours) job until 31st July 2029. Arrangements for job share would be considered.

We are committed to providing competitive employment packages that support your well-being and help you reach your full potential. You will have access to a benefits package, including leading fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with a generous holiday allowance and pension scheme.

Within UoN Libraries we are dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every requirement, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Matilda Stickley, email matilda.stickley@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
