About the role

Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to work with Dr George Stothart across multiple research projects conducted by Dr Stothart’s Fastball Lab. 

Our research focuses on the clinical and cognitive neuroscience of dementia and includes studies to validate new electroencephalography (EEG) markers of cognitive impairment for use in the diagnosis of dementia. 

Your role will involve extensive contact with dementia patients and carers, clinical and research staff. 

You will be responsible for patient recruitment, data collection and management across multiple studies, and extensive analytic methods development, specifically in frequency tagging of cognitive functions in MEG and EEG data.

Our ideal candidate

Candidates must have an undergraduate degree in psychology, experience in administering EEG with dementia patients, and in frequency tagging analytical approaches to MEG and EEG data. 

Applicants should be enthusiastic, well-motivated and able to work as part of a collaborative research team. 

The position is full-time, fixed term (until September 2027). Part-time will unfortunately not be considered.

As a member of Research Staff at the University of Bath, you will be encouraged to take up a minimum of 10 days professional development pro rata per year.

A lower grade offer may be made (Grade 6) with comparable reduction in responsibilities and amendment in job title to Research Assistant, if a suitable applicant cannot be found to fill the Grade 7 position. Applicants will need to be within six months of their course completion date and will be promoted to Research Associate once their PhD has been awarded.
