INTERNAL VACANCY
This vacancy is open to employees of the University of Nottingham only.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and overseeing technical operations across clinical, dissection, and laboratory teaching areas. This includes coordinating equipment and materials, supervising junior technicians, and providing expert technical support to academic staff. Duties also involve maintaining and servicing specialist equipment, managing stock and procurement, and contributing to the development of technical methods and procedures.
You will act as a recognised source of technical expertise, delivering training to junior technicians and supporting advanced practical setups, including surgical dissection, cadaver preparation, and microscopy. A key part of the role involves health and safety management, including risk assessments, compliance checks, and maintaining accurate technical documentation. Additionally, you will plan and oversee the delivery of CPD programs, liaising with internal and external clinicians and providers to ensure all practical requirements and safety documentation are met.
About you
Candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work under pressure while maintaining high standards. You should have experience in relevant technical techniques and equipment, an understanding of health and safety regulations, and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues. Physical capability to lift and move equipment is essential, and a full UK driving licence is required unless disability precludes this.
Applicants should hold a minimum of HNC in a relevant subject, or equivalent qualifications/experience. Experience of working within a teaching environment and with a wide range of animals is desirable.
