A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Media Developer to join the Centre of Evidence Based Dermatology (CEBD) which is part of the Unit of Lifespan and Population Health within the School of Medicine. Led by Professors Kim Thomas and Hywel Williams, CEBD has an international reputation for independent research into the prevention and treatment of skin disease. You will join a dynamic and friendly team of approximately 20 staff and work with a range of clinical and non-clinical academics, researchers and other administrators. The role holder will lead the strategic visual communication of CEBD research, providing specialist technical direction to enhance impact, recruitment, and engagement. This will include supporting the RAPID Eczema Trials programme; a National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) funded applied research programme running multiple online randomised controlled trials. The role integrates inclusive design principles and dermatological expertise to bridge the gap between clinical science and public engagement, optimizing recruitment pathways and building departmental capacity. You will have responsibility for designing high-quality digital, print, and pedagogical assets, architecting complex web resources and interactive learning tools. Acting as a technical authority, responsibilities include advising on brand governance, clinical safety, and production feasibility.

The ability to translate complex clinical or scientific concepts into engaging visual narratives for lay audiences (patients, children, parents), proficiency in industry-standard design software (Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Illustrator etc) to create high-quality vector graphics, animation, and print layouts and demonstrable ability to code and customise web resources using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to overcome CMS limitations and build bespoke functionality are all essential, along with a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape for public-facing research, including GDPR, Clinical Trial Ethics, and Brand Governance risks Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates with experience of working within a clinical trial or academic health environment (especially in the field of dermatology) and with demonstratable skills in leveraging AI tools for workflow efficiency.
