Applications are invited for the above post based at The University of Nottingham, University Park, with a base in the School of Humanities, Department of Music.

The purpose of this role will be to work on the project: ‘The Cultural Legacies of the British Empire: Classical Music’s Colonial History’ at the University of Nottingham in undertaking research (especially searching historical newspapers) and other activities to support the project. These may include organising workshops, conferences and other public-facing events, constructing bibliographies, preparing outputs for publication, data gathering and data entry, and contributing to the development of teaching resources and digital resources.

The successful candidate will meet regularly remotely and/or in-person with their line manager. The person appointed will have the opportunity to use their initiative and creativity to contribute to public engagement and knowledge exchange, develop research methods, and extend their research portfolio.

Applications are welcome from those who have a degree or equivalent experience in music or history, preferably with interests in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century music, colonial and imperial history, especially within the context of the British empire, and or music education. We warmly welcome applications from under-represented groups.
