You will work on a project investigating a dietary supplement as a potential new treatment for mania in bipolar disorder. With the purpose to investigate the potential clinical applications of a new family of compounds that are more potent than VPA by assessing their potency as mood stabilizers in comparison with VPA in Myshkin mice, a model of bipolar disorder.
You will be educated to a degree level in a relevant subject, such as neuroscience or pharmacology, BTEC higher level or equivalent or equivalent experience. Experience of handling laboratory rodents is essential as well as being a holder of a Home Officer personal licence. As the study will involve a mouse model of mania, rodent behavioural testing would be an advantage.
