Applications are invited for the academic post of Assistant Professor in Electrical Machines and Drives at the University of Nottingham. The post has been created to support and grow research activities in the Power Electronics, Machines and Control Research Group. We are seeking an exceptional candidate who aspires to be an international leader in this research area.  

This is an exciting opportunity to join the PEMC group, which is internationally renowned for research in power electronics electrical machines and drives for aerospace, automotive and other transport applications.  The group has exceptional experimental facilities including test rigs of up to 800kW loading capability and speeds up to 120,000Krpm, electrical machines and power converter prototyping capabilities. The PEMC group has a strong track record of industrial collaboration and is home to the GE Aviation University Technology Centre and the Cummins Generators Innovation Centre.

Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent and post-doctoral academic research experience in a field related to Electrical Machines and Motor Drives. 

It is also essential that the candidate has experience in research leadership and has a proven track record in project management. The successful candidate will also contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, which will include lectures, tutorials and the supervision of project work. The person appointed will be expected to apply for and obtain external funding to enable development of new and independent research. Good communication and organisation skills are also required.
