Associate Director of Primary Care Education (HY0192)

This post is fixed term for 3 years (Option to extend for a further 3 years) and is 0.2-0.4 fte with 4 positions available.

As part of an ongoing commitment to ensure excellent primary care experience for its students, Hull York Medical School is seeking to appoint a number of Associate Directors of Primary Care Education (ADPCEs). These exciting new roles will replace and build upon the existing Director of Clinical Studies role and play a key part in the school’s developing regional Primary Care Academy. We are particularly interested in recruiting colleagues in the East Riding, Hull, North Lincolnshire and Scarborough areas.

Working closely with the Director of Primary Care Education and Professional Support teams across HYMS and the local trust, ADPCEs will be responsible for overseeing delivery of HYMS clinical programmes, quality assurance and the development of new placements at practices in their area. They will play a pivotal role in ensuring excellent communications between the School and the teaching placements. 

At least one ADPCE will be appointed to each CCG area in which practices take HYMS students. We wish to recruit to these posts from senior clinical colleagues in the local primary care community and posts will be available with immediate effect. Successful candidates will be medical practitioners with experience and understanding of NHS structures, procedures and priorities and all appropriate professional and regulatory standards. He/she will have excellent leadership and management skills and a track-record of achievement and quality in medical education. They will also have a postgraduate qualification in medical education or demonstrate an intention to achieve this.
