Description :
• Solid Electrolytes have key benefits compared to current liquid electrolyte based lithium-ion batteries, such as enhanced safety and improved tolerance towards elevated temperatures. In the framework of this project the Chair of Technical Electrochemistry (www.tec.ch.tum.de) works in close collaboration with the Chair of Inorganic Chemistry with Focus on Novel Materials at the TUM Chemistry Department (www.acnm.ch.tum.de). • Your tasks include the design and evaluation of a suitable electrochemical measurement cell for the impedance based analysis of synthetized powders provided by our project partner. Materials will be optimized and tested at different temperatures and pressures. • Chemical stability towards metallic lithium is an important topic directly affecting the economic competitiveness of solid electrolyte cells. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) will be used to analyze the solid electrolytes and their interface towards metallic lithium. • Electrochemical impedance analysis and cycling experiments vs. lithium metal electrodes and a wide range of promising future active materials will be used to gain insights into the long term stability of the solid electrolytes.
