Description :

GSA (Guildford School of Acting) is a long established and internationally renowned drama conservatoire, training technicians, performers and creative leaders for the theatre and performance industries.  We are a department of the University of Surrey, a leading UK and global university. The department of Technical Theatre Arts runs the long established BA Theatre Production and the new MA in Stage & Production Management, as well as supporting the production aspects of all other courses within the GSA portfolio, the research activity and a large variety of other events.  Providing an excellent student experience is central to all we do.

We are seeking a production supervisor who will be integral to the smooth running of GSA's production & research activity.  The post holder will be expected to undertake the production management of GSA shows, and as part of this activity they will supervise, and where appropriate, instruct students undertaking production roles. They will also oversee freelance and temporary production staff and will have a critical role in ensuring safe working practices in all GSA venues.

You will be an experienced theatre production/stage manager, with excellent inter-personal skills and a good level of technical knowledge (lighting/sound/AV/staging & flying systems), who would be confident in leading and managing students taking part in assessed production work.  You will hold a qualification from a recognised vocational course and/or relevant professional experience.

As a new colleague at GSA you will join a thriving theatre community, working with excellent colleagues and students.  If you would like an informal discussion about this post, please contact Jo Franklin (Head of Technical Theatre Arts) on joanne.franklin@gsa.surrey.ac.uk
