Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in computational geomechanics? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?
You will be required to develop/apply a computational framework for inverse analysis and geomechanical modelling at both field and experimental scales. Several classes of experiments will be considered, including nano-indentation, triaxial and fracture closure tests and will be inversely modelled using coupled geomechanical/flow assumptions. Models and characterisations derived from the experimentally observed response will be transferred into the field-scale using multi-phase, multi-scale FEM models to solve coupled geomechanical/flow problems, with particular attention to faults and associated leakage.
Previous experience in micromechanics, numerical sample analysis, inverse analysis of experiments is essential; working knowledge of multi-scale modelling, computational homogenisation, fault mechanics, coupled geomechanical/flow problems is required.
You will be working with and developing software in Fortran and C#, so fluency in both languages is essential.
