Description :

This position is provided by the University of Bath as part of the EPSRC project ‘ OMMS: Optimising Me Manufacturing Systems’, in collaboration with the University of Kent, University of Bristol, UCL, Cambridge University and Imperial College.

The aim of this project is to develop a novel microfactory platform, which can remove the need for manufacturing T-cell immunotherapies in vitro by placing a micro-manufacturing facility on the body. This approach will shift personalised therapeutic manufacture from a centralised ‘impersonal’ manufacturing facility, to a redistributed, point-of-care ‘personal’ manufacturing where cell isolation, processing and re-administration will all occur within the system on the body.

The Research Associate, located in Bath, will be involved in the development of the factory-on-a-chip device, embedding the biosensors that another team member at Bath is developing, as well as a pH and a temperature sensor. As such, we require an individual with great expertise in standard and advanced microfabrication techniques, electrical engineering and closely related fields. He/she will work closely with biologists, chemists and engineers.

The post is full time, and is being offered on a fixed term contract basis for up to 20 months.

For an informal discussion about this role, please feel free to contact Dr Mirella Di Lorenzo on +44 (0) 1225 385574 or via e-mail m.di.lorenzo@bath.ac.uk.

Closing Date: 17 Oct 2018
