PhD position in Local Responses to Food Allergens in Eosinophilic Esophagitis: defining mechanisms to improve diagnosis and (dietary) disease management (1.0 FTE)

The PhD candidate will be working on a NWO-TTW financed research project in collaboration with Dr Arjan Bredenoord (AMC) and Nutricia Research (Utrecht) on Local Responses to Food Allergens in Eosinophilic Esophagitis. This project aims to gain more insight in the abnormal food-induced immune responses in EoE and to define markers for determining sensitization of esophageal tissue and to investigate the efficacy of dietary components and/or nutraceuticals in increasing esophageal immune fitness. In this project, one clinical researcher (AGIO-AMC) and basic researcher (AIO-UU) will work on different aspects of the disease. The PhD candidate in Utrecht will mainly focus on the immunological profile of EoE at multiple levels to comprehend the immune processes leading to the extended pathology.
