Student Services and Administration is seeking a motivated individual to join the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Student Services Team. You will work closely with the Senior Administrative Officer (Short Courses), providing administrative support to a range of non-credit and co-curricular credit bearing programmes and courses delivered at the University. In particular you will besupporting the Guildford School of Acting’s (GSA) Short Courses portfolio which currently includes their Saturday School, Foundation programme and the Summer School.
This position requires an individual who enjoys working directly with and advising students. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate a strong customer focus and understanding of what students and staff need, computing skills (in particular databases), with the ability to work to a high level of accuracy. The role will require excellent interpersonal and organisational ability. You will need to be adaptable to different situations and should be well organised and methodical in your approach. Relevant administrative experience would be a distinct advantage.
A good team player, you will have proven administration experience, have an approachable and understanding manner and have an eye for detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as you will be in contact with a wide range of people. The ability to work well in a team is also vital and you may be expected to show flexibility to assist colleagues in other areas during busy times.
This role is a job share. The successful candidate will be working 18 hours per week. The arrangement will be Wednesdays starting at 1300hrs until 1700hrs (including a 15 minute handover with other staff member) Thursdays and Fridays 0900hrs until 1700hrs.
