Description :

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to pioneer new directions within the longstanding applied dementia care research programme at the University of Hull.  This programme has received significant external funding over two decades for health research across the trajectory of dementia care. It has conducted collaborative research studies with UK Universities (e.g. KCL, UCL, UEA, Bangor Wales, Nottingham, Bradford, York), several NHS and Social Care organisations, NGOs and an influential multidisciplinary dementia care research group INTERDEM, founded in Hull in 1999, now spanning 23 countries in Europe, Australia and the US https://interdem.org

At the Faculty of Health Sciences, this post is situated within the multidisciplinary (e.g. nursing, pharmacy, neuropsychology, clinical/health psychology, psychiatry, methodology and social work) Dementia Research sub-group of SPARC – Social and Psychological Research in Long Term Conditions https://sparchull.wordpress.com/

The post holder will have strong collaborative links with the Faculty’s Institute for Clinical and Applied Health Research (ICAHR) and opportunities to engage with the dementia programme’s current collaborative national and international research networks, and build new ones.  At Reader level the post holder could have at least one currently funded dementia research study and will be encouraged to apply for an external NIHR Professorship (or equivalent) award; and to build a team of early career dementia health and social care researchers. At Senior lecturer level it is anticipated that the post holder will develop their research portfolio to meet the criteria of Reader.

Health and social scientists of any discipline (e.g. gerontology, medical sociology, epidemiology, psychology /neuropsychology, neuroscience, methodology, health economics, sport/movement science) and for those with practitioner qualifications (e.g. nursing, pharmacy, clinical /health psychology, social work, and occupational /speech /physio therapists), are invited to apply for this post. Applicants should have strong dementia research work portfolio.   At the University of Hull, the successful candidate will, on appointment, benefit from strong active collegiate support to develop their dementia-related research aspirations.
