Applications are invited for an experienced social science/health services researcher to contribute to an NIHR Programme grant study at the University of Nottingham. The successful candidate will work on a large programme of research (ROWTATE) which will develop a programme to help injured people make a successful return to work, evaluate this in a randomised controlled trial and disseminate the findings widely. 

Applicants must have experience of qualitative and, ideally, quantitative research methods and theories as well as expertise in analysing qualitative and/or quantitative data. Applicants must have a PhD in social sciences, implementation or improvement science, or the equivalent in professional qualifications and experience in research area.

This role will involve undertaking study tasks for work packages 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the ROWTATE programme, including, but not limited to, reviewing literature, carry out and, where appropriate, design research using recognised social science approaches, theories, methodologies and techniques within the research area. To conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis for work packages 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Applicants must have:

A background in the social sciences, experience of health service research and a good working knowledge of the NHS.Experience of designing, carrying out and reporting qualitative and/or quantitative health services research.Knowledge of social science theories about implementationThe ability to collate and summarise evidence (including literature) and using this to produce both academic and non-academic outputs.Good communication skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.The ability to travel across the UK and access to own transport. 

This part-time post (21.75 hours per week) is available from April 2019 and will be offered on a fixed term contract for a period of 30 months.
