Description :

Do you have a sharp attention to detail to provide managerial oversight for key research programmes? Are you an enthusiastic team player with excellent communication and coordination skills? Would you like to manage exciting research programmes accelerating the development of novel diagnostics?

We are seeking an enthusiastic programme manager with leadership and team skills with excellent communication, strategic planning, coordination and project management experience to support the successful delivery of key research programmes.

The National Institute of Health Research Medtech and In Vitro Diagnostics Cooperative (NIHR Leeds MIC) is a partnership between the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust (LTHT) and the University of Leeds. It has been set up to add value to the transit of in-vitro diagnostic devices (IVDs) through to patient benefit and the commercial market place (https://www.leedsmic.nihr.ac.uk/). Four areas underpin the scientific programme: infection diagnostics, musculoskeletal, renal medicine and oncology. MIC acts as catalyst for the generation of high quality evidence of clinical validity and cost effectiveness of commercially supplied IVDs. It enables collaboration between the IVD industry, clinicians, and the NHS academic researchers and patients groups.

You will manage a portfolio of IVD research programmes and projects, including liaising with commercial companies and facilitating collaborations between commercial and non-commercial partners and will oversee the collation of services within the University and LTHT. You will be part of the Management Team, with shared responsibility for shaping and implementing MIC strategy. This position is ideally suited to an individual interested in facilitating clinical innovation and translation for patient benefit. Given that the post involves developing close collaboration between the NHS clinicians, academics, and commercial partners at local and national levels, the post holder must have good interpersonal skills and must excel at interdisciplinary working.

You will be based primarily at St James’s University Hospital in Leeds; and will liaise closely with personnel at Leeds General Infirmary and academics at the University of Leeds.
