Description :

We are seeking applications for the above post based within the Smart Products Beacon of Excellence. The successful applicant will be a key member of the Beacon team that will contribute to achieving a significant increase in the Beacon's research funding portfolio, in line with the University's Research Strategy. The role will manage a portfolio of research development applications and relationships for the Smart Products Beacon and particular focus will be applications to UKRI as well as appropriate EU funding sources.

The Smart Products Beacon explores how leading edge technologies emerging from Computer Science and Engineering can fundamentally disrupt the nature of products and how they are made. We tackle how the combination of physical and digital technologies, from robotically-enabled manufacturing and additive manufacturing to artificial intelligence and mixed reality, can make possible smarter products that blend goods, services and experiences into new forms. We explore how these same technologies can disrupt how these products are made, being cyclically co-created by manufacturers and consumers. We will ensure that these smarter products are produced in responsible ways that embody the fair and transparent use of personal data, operate safely, and respect human values.

You should be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant scientific or engineering field, and have substantial experience in an academic/research liaison role that demonstrates credibility in working with academics and senior administrators. The post requires excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation and attention to detail and a good understanding of the research environments. You should also have extensive experience and track record of developing research proposals across different funding bodies.

In return, you will receive a generous holiday entitlement of 30 days plus bank holidays and University closure days; a benefits package including contributory pension scheme and the opportunity to take advantage of salary sacrifice options enabling you to save money on childcare, shopping and services.

This is fixed-term post commencing on 1 August 2019 and ending on 31 July 2024. Hours of work are full-time, however job share arrangements may be considered.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Sue Jones, email s.jones@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
