Research Technician (Fixed term, Part time) (SCI166119)

Applications are invited for the above post based at the Sutton Bonington Campus. 

The post-holder will provide technical support for research which is seeking to determine the elemental concentrations of soil, plant and grain materials from Africa

The post-holder will be responsible for the growth, maintenance and monitoring of plants in glasshouses and growth rooms using hydroponic and soil systems. 

The post-holder will also be responsible for routine soil, plant and grain analysis procedures (e.g. drying, milling, acid digestion of material, and dilution of digested samples), assistance with analytical procedures including nitrogen analyses inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (e.g. sample loading and monitoring), The post-holder will also provide assistance with other physiological assays on plants, general laboratory maintenance and local fieldwork tasks where required.

Full training for all activities will be provided.

Candidates should have a minimum of two A-Levels in relevant science subjects, or equivalent vocational qualifications (NVQ City & Guild) plus some relevant technical/scientific experience. 

OR

Considerable work experience in a relevant technical or scientific role.

This is a part time post 20hrs per week and will be offered on a fixed-term contract from a period of 3 months.
