Description :

Make a difference, every day, to the lives of our students.

About You

You should be educated to at least Undergraduate level in a relevant area (e.g. Sport and Exercise Science, Sport Psychology or Sport, Physical Activity and Mental Health) and have qualitative research/analysis skills and experience acquired in a relevant discipline. You will also be familiar and competent in data recording and data management processes.

You will have an interest in endurance sport performance and be passionate about progressing physical activity levels within society whilst also improving sport performance (an interest in running is desirable but not essential). You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, be able to organise and prioritise work effectively, and demonstrate flexibility and reliability to meet required deadlines.

About the Role

A multi-disciplinary team of researchers at Edge Hill University are looking to expand knowledge on the impact of thoughts on pace and/or performance in running, and to explore the effects of fatigue during running on thoughts (and vice versa). With support from the team, the successful candidate will be responsible for organising and undertaking data collection sessions, processing and analysing data, and reporting on the research results. The study is novel in that it aims to combine ‘real-time’ psychological data with physiological responses and will involve work in both a lab-based and field-based setting. This post is an opportunity for an emerging researcher to progress their career by working alongside a dynamic team of academics as part of a developing research group.
