Project Title:
EV integrated Building Energy Management Systems
Project description
This is an exciting opportunity to develop solutions for smarter buildings, energy and transport infrastructure. In order to meet national and international carbon emissions targets, countries need solutions to decarbonise both the buildings and transport sectors. This research aims to create a platform that integrates and optimises the onsite renewable energy generation with the energy vectors of heat and power in buildings and the electricity required to charge electric vehicles. Energy storage will have a key role in facilitating the greater utilisation of renewable energy and by utilising the latest V2G (vehicle to grid technologies) connected to buildings there could be a significant energy store and grid balancing solution. The research will focus on the development of a smart building energy management system through novel approaches to the management of the assets through AI and machine learning algorithms. The work will utilise the Universities campus test bed of low energy housing and EV charging infrastructure.
