The School of Visual Communication is diverse, with a wealth of industry experience as well as strong academic backgrounds among faculty staff. This is reflected in our teaching which combines academic study with practice based learning.   We are investing in our academic provision and are seeking to appoint a lecturer in graphic communication to join our team of experienced academic staff. We are looking for inspiring and enthusiastic academics to make a key contribution to the delivery and development of our strong and dynamic provision through teaching, research and enterprise.   Applications are welcomed from experienced academics and successful practitioners in the fields of graphic communication; particularly those who have experience in advertising, motion graphics, ux design along with AR and VR, ideally with teaching experience in both practice and theory.   Whilst the possession of a doctoral qualification is desirable, a first degree and a master’s degree are essential.   You will be able to demonstrate a good record of achievement in teaching and learning practice, scholarship and research, together with a strong portfolio of national and international outputs. Successful candidates will provide year group and/or module leadership within relevant disciplines, contributing to the delivery and development of our BA [Hons] Graphic Communication course.   BA [Hons] Graphic Communication at Birmingham City University is a broad based, collaborative and multidisciplinary course with a cohort of approximately 350 students across all three levels. It is renowned as a unique course that has sought to blur established boundaries. Our approach to graphic communication is wide ranging, building on the potential for contemporary and commercial trans-disciplinary practices.    We are looking for creative designers with a good professional/practice/research track record within their discipline and with current experience of working within higher education. You will be joining a dedicated, enthusiastic and highly professional teaching and research team.    The post holders will have experience of teaching students, ideally at undergraduate level. They will be required to support the continuing academic developments within the Department.
