Description :

We are seeking to appoint a Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Coordinator to join the NIHR MindTech MedTech Co-operative. MindTech is a collaboration between the University of Nottingham, Institute of Mental Health and Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust that aims to accelerate the development and adoption of new technology for mental health and dementia by bringing together clinicians, patients, academics and industry.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the delivery of involvement for MindTech and the BRC’s (Biomedical Research Centre) Mental Health and Technology theme, and will work with volunteers and researchers on a variety of projects related to the development and evaluation of technology for conditions including Tourette Syndrome, ADHD, mood disorders, such as depression and anxiety, and dementia. This will involve working closely with the Team Leader of the Involvement Team and the PPI lead, to plan and deliver activities and support individual volunteers to participate in research and other activities.

This post is an exciting opportunity to join an established and vibrant research group. The person appointed will be a highly-motivated and organised individual with good communication skills, who is able to interact sensitively and professionally with a range of people including patients, members of the public, and healthcare technology stakeholders including healthcare professionals, industry representatives and researchers.

Candidates must hold an undergraduate degree (upper 2nd or 1st class) in a relevant health or social science discipline (or equivalent). Some background knowledge of research design and conduct is essential, alongside previous experience of patient and public involvement (or equivalent) in a research, healthcare or other relevant setting. Personal lived experience of mental health difficulties would be an advantage.

This is a full-time post (36.25 hours per week), or part-time to a minimum of 29 hours per week, and will be offered on a fixed term contract for a period of 24 months.
