The University of Nottingham is excited to invite applications for the role of Financial Accountant - Group within the Financial Control Department. You will be responsible for reporting the financial performance of the University Group and the co-ordination of external audit and statutory and regulatory financial returns. Working in the Corporate Finance team you will act to create, maintain and improve financial systems and processes within the University and provide advice on technical accounting matters.

Your role will include preparing and co-ordinating statutory and management information for the University Group, this will include monthly financial information, periodic forecasts, plans/budgets and financial statements. As such, you will need to be experienced in preparing financial statements for large/complex organisations under UK GAAP.

You will also demonstrate excellent time management, both of yourself and others as you will be setting appropriate reporting deadlines and co-ordinating the completion of activities to ensure that the University statutory financial information, and provision of other financial information to the University Executive Board and external stakeholders is completed on a timely basis.

As the successful candidate, you must thoroughly understand UK GAAP and its application to financial statements, and be able to communicate effectively to key stakeholders at all levels. You will have an in-depth knowledge of the principles of financial management, theory and best practice, along with an understanding of the UK higher education funding environment and opportunities. Experience of accounting in a large complex organisation, application of financial/business processes and controls, along with an understanding of the importance, operation and interaction of financial systems and controls processes is essential.

This is a permanent full-time (36.25 hours per week) opportunity, however job share arrangements may be considered.
