We are seeking brilliant, friendly, ambitious and inspirational candidates to join the Department of Criminology, Policing and Forensic Science

The role would include such activities as:

Preparing and delivering teaching and learning activity on various aspects of our BSc (Hons) Policing and Criminal Investigation and our BSc (Hons) Professional Policing  To teach and assess, as part of a teaching team, in the areas of knowledge appropriate to the School provision, and where appropriate, across other Schools of the UniversityTo contribute to the development of specialist teaching and learning provision, including short courses, in the subject specialism and associated disciplinesEnhancement of the student experience and facilitating ongoing course evaluation and development.Engaging with and developing innovative and effective teaching methods to enhance student engagement and achievement.Contributing to student recruitment and ongoing promotion of the course.

The successful applicant will work well within a team and will possess excellent communication skills. Formal teaching experience is preferred but is not essential if applying for the Lecturer (Grade 7) post, although applicants who do not hold a teaching qualification would be expected to work towards one if successful. 

Applicants will have a PhD in a relevant subject and/or significant professional experience in criminal investigation from either a Police or other agency perspective alongside a level 7 qualification (Masters’). Increasingly the Police engage with partner agencies on criminal investigations. Consequently, the Department is seeking to extend the scope of the Policing and Criminal Investigation degree to reflect the growing complexity of multi-agency investigations.
