Menopause in the workplace: A multicentre investigation into the implementation and evaluation of an evidence-based menopause in the workplace toolkit (MENO-kit)

The Division of Health Research (DHR) within Lancaster University’s Faculty of Health and Medicine is seeking to fill a part-time Research Associate position. 

In this role you will work on a 3-year project funded by Wellbeing of Women from 1st October 2021 until 30th September 2024. The project will involve developing and evaluating a new online toolkit for organisations on the topic of menopause and work. This role is for 3 years but there is a requirement that the toolkit is ready at the end of Year 1 for the second and third year to go ahead. 

You will be expected to support the project in developing the online toolkit and resources, conduct literature reviews gather and analyse quantitative and qualitative data from employees of participating organisations. This will involve using online surveys and multiple data collection time points as part of a longitudinal design. You will also support the development of a new measure of work culture. You will help the team recruit and maintain relationships with organisations in the UK who will implement the toolkit in their workplaces. You will liaise with key stakeholders and teams (e.g. a project specific advisory group) and ensure key milestones are met. You will support other project-related tasks as the need arises and help write reports and disseminate findings.

You will have an MSc or PhD in Occupational Psychology, Health Research or a relevant applied social sciences discipline with experience of quantitative and qualitative research methods and analyses. Knowledge and/or experience of conducting research in the work context is essential. Knowledge and/or experience within the relevant topic areas such as menopause, online toolkits, workplace intervention development and evaluation would be advantageous. In addition, developing and validating new psychological measures would also be an advantage. 

This is a collaborative research project between three universities. The project is led by Dr Claire Hardy at Lancaster University, alongside co-investigators Professor Amanda Griffiths from the University of Nottingham and Emeritus Professor Myra Hunter from King’s College London. The post will be based in the Division of Health Research at Lancaster University and may involve travel.

The post is part-time, 22 hours per week (0.6 FTE). The position is available from 1st October 2021 and we are open to discussing flexible working arrangements including working week and days/hours worked, flexible start and finish times or condensed hours. Interviews dates are yet to be confirmed but expected towards the end September 2021.

You will join us on an indefinite contract however this role remains contingent on external funding. This is a 3-year project and the role has guaranteed funding for one year and then subject to funder approval a further two years of funding.
