About You 

With experience of delivering academic writing support to postgraduate researchers, you will be experienced in designing and delivering workshops and sessions to large groups, creating interactive digital learning opportunities for postgraduate researcher development. You will also engage in personal research and the production of research outputs to contribute to one of the University’s REF returns. 

You will be able to work collaboratively with academic colleagues and other staff members across the University on developing learning support interventions, and will have a knowledge and understanding of the support needs amongst postgraduate researchers and the challenges they face. 

About the Role

The Graduate School is seeking to second an academic member of staff on a 0.6 FTE three-year fixed-term basis to contribute to postgraduate researcher development through the design, delivery and evaluation of doctoral training and the delivery of high-quality academic writing support. This opportunity will provide you with evidence of research leadership, normally something that is required for Reader/Professor applications.

You will hold the role of MRes Lead and also contribute, as a member of a team led by the Associate Dean of the Graduate School, to the design, delivery, management and implementation of the core postgraduate researcher development programme and bespoke programmes necessary for international research degree partnerships. You will also provide individual and small group academic writing support for PGRs. 

You will be expected to produce print and digital resources and contribute to projects, working groups, committees and initiatives relevant to the role. That will involve developing good working relationships and networks across the University and outside the University in order to develop and maintain a high level of understanding of the researcher development agenda, including doctoral education, and initiatives across the sector.
