Immigration Adviser (SS0154)

We are looking to appoint a proactive Immigration Adviser to join our busy team, and provide an outstanding service to all stakeholders. The role is within the International Engagement & Compliance Team in the Student Services Directorate, who are responsible for many administrative services provided to our international staff and students. 

The post-holder will support international students during their visa application process in preparation for study at the University, as well as providing support with student-immigration matters whilst in the UK. They will also be expected to provide support for students as they complete their studies at the University, as they consider post-study visa options to remain in the UK. Additionally the post-holder will provide support to the team’s existing Immigration Adviser, and will and will play an active part in the University effectively managing visa application refusal rates. 

The post-holder will also be expected to support the team and Directorate in larger student activities such as Enrolment and Graduation.

The post involves frequent liaison with staff across the University, as well as external partners and you will have excellent ability to communicate accurately and clearly both in writing and verbally.  

The post holder will have experience of working within a busy office environment.  You must have good organisational skills and strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, excellent IT skills and a demonstrable ability to follow guidance in handling sensitive and personal information.  The ability to work proactively and solve problems is essential as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.  We are also looking for someone who can demonstrate excellent customer service who is able to familiarise themselves with both internal and external policies and procedures and to comply with these at all times.

Ideally the post holder will have working knowledge of Student visa route, however full training will be provided. A basic understanding of a University’s responsibility as a sponsor under the Student visa and Skilled Worker visa routes would also be an advantage.
