Grade 7 (£34,304 – £40,927 p.a. depending on experience)

This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner.   We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Do you have strong analytical skills and a questioning nature? Are you experienced in drawing insight from data and passionate about using data visualisation to support evidence-based decision making?

The University of Leeds is one of the top 135 universities in the world.  We have a truly global community, with more than 39,000 students from 170 different countries and over 9,000 staff of 100 different nationalities.  Established in 1904, we have a strong tradition of academic excellence, reflected in first-class student education, long with world-leading research that has a real impact around the globe.

You will operationally manage a growing team within the Digital Education Service with responsibility for the evaluation of the Service’s portfolio of online courses and digital education solutions for student, professional and corporate stakeholders. The Data Analytics team provides high quality data visualisations and analysis to help answer key questions and enable decision making. You will take responsibility for the measurement and evaluation of course performance through collection and analysis of quantitative data; and lead on reporting to internal and external stakeholders in multiple formats.

You will need strong management and leadership skills to be able to guide and support a team of analysts to deliver rapid insights and reports. You will need the statistical and technical capabilities to develop automated processes for the analysis and presentation of data including designing and developing bespoke dashboards and formal reports. You will work with stakeholders in the Service and wider university to establish key questions and utilise appropriate data science project methodologies to prioritise, explore and answer these questions with your team. You will be able to communicate findings to a range of stakeholders, using data to tell a story. Your evidence-based recommendations will contribute towards continuous improvement in the design and delivery of the Service’s online courses, with a particular focus on learner experience and retention. You will ensure that your team and the wider Service manages learner data effectively and in line with data protection regulation and best practice.

This is an exciting opportunity for a leader with strong analytical skills and a questioning nature. You will be self-directing but also work as part of a team and with colleagues across the University.
