Equitable place-based health and care theme (ARC North West Coast)

Grade 8

Full-time

This is an opportunity for a senior researcher with advanced qualitative skills to make a real contribution to reducing health inequalities and improving population health.

You will work as part of a team based at Lancaster University who lead the Equitable Place based health and care (EPHC) theme of the Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) for the North West Coast region of England.

On a day-to-day basis, your work will enable the overall efficient management and delivery of EPHC research activities. You will also lead the co-ordination and development of new research related to EPHC s work programme on upstream determinants of health and/or integrated health and care across one or more priority topics (e.g. air pollution, social prescribing).  The role will also involve preparation of research applications for external research funding.

You will have a background in an area of relevance (e.g. public health, social sciences, health service or social care research), and experience of managing large-scale applied research studies.  You will also have a strong track record of high-quality peer reviewed publications appropriate to your career stage.

You will be based within the Division of Health Research at Lancaster University, but be willing to travel regularly across the North West Coast region. Lancaster University has flexible working options.

The position is available for immediate start and we are open to discussing flexible working arrangements including working week and days/hours worked, flexible start and finish times or condensed hours.

You will join us on an indefinite contract however the roles remain contingent on external funding which at this time is due to come to an end on 30th March 2026.
