Applications are invited for the above position, based primarily at our University Park Campus. The Legal Services team is part of the Registrar’s Department, it provides legal advice, support and representation to and on behalf of the University. 

The In-House Senior Commercial Lawyer will provide commercial legal services as part of the Legal Services team and will additionally be the in-house legal point of contact for information law enquiries and support. The role includes a high degree of autonomy and responsibility, requiring the ability to work without supervision on technical legal matters. The role holder will join a busy and supportive team and will have the opportunity to undertake a complex and varied workload. You will work with key stakeholders on a range of commercial law matters with direct accountability to the internal client.

The role holder will be a practising Solicitor or Barrister with significant experience in commercial law. Candidates must demonstrate their experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts and the ability to lead on information law, including drafting data sharing and transfer agreements. This role requires the ability to provide expert professional support to the University and its senior managers as well as working as an effective member of a team and to deputise as required for the Director of Commercial Legal Services.

This is a permanent, full time (36.25 hours per week) position. Job share arrangements may be considered.
