Research Governance Manager
The University of Southampton is a research-intensive University, with annual research income in excess of £120 million. The Research Ethics and Governance Office (REGO), based in Research and Innovation Services (RIS), provides core support for research ethics across the university and is also responsible for providing advice and support to researchers on all aspects of clinical research governance and other research regulatory compliance.
About the role
We are now looking to recruit a Research Governance Manager to join the Research Ethics and Governance Office (REGO).
In this role, you will maintain oversight of clinical research governance matters, and provide expert advice on sponsorship and regulatory compliance. You will also support the development of related policies and procedures and act as a key liaison with our key NHS partners.
A key aspect of the role is the continuous improvement of our quality management system through the implementation and maintenance of a framework of systems and processes to ensure adherence to relevant clinical research governance, policy, and regulatory requirements. The role also encompasses the monitoring of clinical trials for compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) regulations and the management of university ethics through the Ethics and Governance Online platform (ERGO II).
About you
You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task and to work well as part of a busy team. You will enjoy the challenge of making things happen in a fast-moving environment demonstrating planning and problem-solving skills.You will have the ability to meet the challenges of leading an effective clinical research oversight programme demonstrated by a track record of successful implementation and improvement of quality standards. Experience in working within the Higher Education sector and/or Health (within the NHS or commercial health research) sector is essential, together with a detailed understanding and knowledge of GCP and the regulatory requirements of the Health Research Authority, and Medicines and Healthcare Products Research Authority (MHRA).What we can offer you
